the Layering System

The Klim Dakar Jacket:

Airlow and versatility is key here. There are 2 vents on the sleeves, 1 on the chest, and 2 on the back. These are all opened and closed by heavy duty zips. With the addition of the removable sleeves, the ability to adjust the jacket to match the riding conditions is unmatched.
The team have used on the trails and race tracks in the UK, Europe and Africa. For hard going off road riding it is the Klim jacket of choice. The jacket has many pockets including a large pocket on the back that can fit a Klim mid layer, the sleeves when removed or the Forecast Rain Jacket. Finally the Klim Dakar jacket allows the fitment of 3DO armour into the back, elbows and shoulders.
Some of the riders prefer the use of the 3DO armour in the elbows and shoulders alongside the use of a lighter MX style chest and back protector like the Dainese MX2 Roost Guard, others run with no 3DO armour alongside a heavier full body armour system such as Leat 5.5 body protection jacket. We definately recommend going a size up on the jacket when using the heavier full body armour systems.

The Klim Dakar Pants:

Like the jacket its all about versatility. Pockets and the huge vents keep the riders comfortable in various conditions. Again these have been used both during the winter here in the UK and in the heat of the African desert. Like the jacket they are not waterproof.

The Layering System:

We'd be crazy to tell you that the Dakar gear on its own will keep you warm when the riding becomes less technical or out on a long stretch of tarmac in winter, and it certainly won't keep you dry when the rain comes in, so layering is essential.

The Klim Aggressor Base Layers:

First layer for the rider which has the ability to wick the moisture away from your body when the going gets tough and they stop abrasion from knee guards and other body armour.

The Klim Forecast Jacket is the teams gor-tex overshell.

Chris has been using for 2 winters and this outer layer has always kept him dry while still being breathable. When the going gets technical with the Forecast, open all the air vents of the Dakar jacket and the rider won't overheat.
The jacket folds up into its own pocket and comfortably fits in the rear pocket of the Dakar jacket.
The Forecast jackets are sized to fit over the Dakar jacket. So if you're a Large Dakar jacket go with the Large Forecast.

Klim Zephyr Wind Shirt and Klim Resilience Mid Layers:

The final piece to climate control and making your Dakar gear ultimately versatile. Both the Zephyr and the Resilience are wind stoppers and pack up real small. If you find yourself a little on the cold side, add one of these layers and get comfortable.
We find them great when at the end of the day you are leaving the trails and heading back to the hotel to keep the chill out.

Klim Koroyd F5 Helmet

The most vented and comfortable helmet we've ever used with 18 intakes and 8 exhaust vents. For the team, a real game changer in the heat of the desert and tough extreme enduros.
Carbon Fibre shell for safety and lightness, with a large eye port to take the bigger goggles, such as the Klim Edge, giving maximum field of vision.
Then there the stuff you don't see. Dual Density EPS, Fid-lock, Koroyd, MIPS, Neck Brace Compatible and a helmet that exceeds ECE and DOT Certifications.
Neat Touch its the go pro mount adapter that can be purchased separately and fits in the front vent.
We were hesitant to give up the F4 which we thought couldn't be beat but the F5 tops it in aspect.
